Arrest
On January 26, 2012, the Cass County Sheriff’s Office
arrested Kristina Lois Sherman, 42, and Charles Henry Elings III, 45, of Adair,
IA, on Atlantic Police Department warrants for Controlled Substance Violations.
Elings and Sherman were taken to the Cass County Jail where they were released
on their own recognizance.

On January 25, 2012, the Cass County Sheriff’s Office
arrested Jacob Lee Gronewold, 25, of Griswold, IA, on two District Court
warrants for Probation Violation. Gronewold was taken to the Cass County Jail
where he is being held on $20,000 bond. |

On January 22, 2012, the Cass County Sheriff’s Office
arrested Michael Francis Wagner, 70, of Cumberland, IA, on a charge of Domestic
Abuse Assault Simple. Wagner was taken to the Cass County Jail where he remains
awaiting hearing before the magistrate. |

Accident
On January 21, 2012, the Cass County Sheriff’s
Office responded to a report of a two-vehicle accident at 7th Street and
Hospital Drive in Atlantic, IA. A 2006 Ford Freestar owned and driven by Robert
Leroy Baker, 74, of Griswold, IA, was attempting a left turn onto Hospital Drive
when the vehicle struck an oncoming 2006 Pontiac G6 owned and driven by John
Allan Carns, 62, of Atlantic, IA. No injuries were reported. Damage to Baker’s
vehicle is estimated at $1000; damage to Carns’ vehicle is estimated at $4,500.
Baker was cited for Failing to Yield the Right of Way. |

On January 20, 2012, the Cass County Sheriff’s Office
arrested Robert Joseph Dambra, 39, of Atlantic, IA, on a Cass County Warrant for
Possession with Intent to Deliver Methamphetamine. Dambra was taken to the Cass
County Jail where he was released later that day on $50,000 bond. |

On January 20, 2012, the Cass County Sheriff’s Office
arrested Travis Derrick Collins, 23, of Cumberland, IA, on a charge of
Disorderly Conduct. Collins was taken to the Cass County Jail where he pled not
guilty and was released on his own recognizance later that day. |

On January 20, 2012, the Cass County Sheriff’s Office
arrested Thomas Lee Curtis, 27, of Red Oak, IA, on a District Court Warrant for
Probation Violation. Curtis was taken to the Cass County Jail where he is being
held on $5000 bond. |

On January 14, 2012, the Cass County Sheriff’s Office
arrested Ryan Vincent Lee Richards, 32, of Elk Horn, NE, on a Cass County
warrant for Failure to Appear. Richards was taken to the Cass County Jail where
he was released the following day on $2000 bond. |

On January 14, 2012, the Cass County Sheriff’s Office
arrested Michael Boyd Vyzourek, 19, of Atlantic, IA, on a Colorado warrant.
Vyzourek was taken to the Cass County Jail where he is being held awaiting
extradition. |

On January 13, 2012, as the result of an attempted
traffic stop and subsequent apprehension, the Cass County Sheriff’s Office
arrested Brian Lee Smith, 51, of Cumberland, IA, on charges of OWI 2nd Offense
and Eluding. Smith was taken to the Cass County Jail where he was released the
following day on his own recognizance. |

On January 10, 2012, the Cass County Sheriff’s Office
arrested Kristy Lynn Bender, 27, of Council Bluffs, IA, on a Nebraska warrant.
Bender waived extradition on January 12, 2012, and was released to Nebraska
authorities on January 13, 2012. |

Accident
On January 9, 2012, the Cass County Sheriff’s
Office responded to a report of a one-vehicle accident on Front Street in
Atlantic, IA. As a result of the accident, the Sheriff’s Office arrested Steven
Paul Winebrenner, 44, of Atlantic, IA, on charges of OWI 1st Offense and Driving
Under Suspension. Winebrenner was taken to the Cass County Jail where he was
released the following day on his own recognizance. |

Accident
On January 8, 2012, the Cass County Sheriff’s
Office responded to a report of a one-vehicle rollover accident on 690th Street
at Boston Road in Cass County. A 2002 Saturn owned and driven by Donathon Eugene
Ebrecht, 35, of Adair, IA, was headed northbound on 690th Street when the
vehicle entered the ditch and rolled. One passenger was taken to Cass County
Memorial Hospital by Anita Ambulance. Ebrecht has been cited for Failure to
Maintain Control and No Insurance. The incident remains under investigation.
Damage to the vehicle is estimated at $2500. |

On January 6, 2012, the Cass County Sheriff’s Office
arrested Bridget Lea Barnholdt, 33, of Atlantic, IA, on a Cass County warrant
for Possession with Intent to Deliver Methamphetamines and Possession of a
Controlled Substance. Barnholdt was taken to the Cass County Jail where she is
being held on $51,000 bond. |

Arrest
On January 5, 2012, the Cass County Sheriff’s Office
charged Derek Allen McDermott, 26, of Atlantic, IA, with Possession with Intent
to Deliver Meth. McDermott was seen the following day by the magistrate and is
being held on $10,000 bond on this charge. McDermott remains in the Cass County
Jail since October 11, 2011, when he was arrested and charged with Possession of
More than 5 Grams of a Controlled Substance, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia,
Possession of a Controlled Substance, Possession With Intent to Deliver
Scheduled Substance (2 counts), Possession with Intent to Deliver (2 counts),
and Failure to Affix Drug Tax Stamp (2 counts). He is being held on $136,325
bond on all charges. |

On January 4, 2012, the Cass County Sheriff’s Office
arrested Diane Lucille Borkowski, 52, of Atlantic, IA, on a charge of OWI 1st
Offense. Borkowski was cited into magistrate’s court the following day. |

On January 1, 2011, the Cass County Sheriff’s Office
arrested Joshua Brock Edwards, 21, of Cumberland, IA, on a charge of OWI 1st
Offense. Edwards was taken to the Cass County Jail where he was released later
that day on his own recognizance. |

As the result of a traffic stop on December 31, 2011,
at the 51 mile marker eastbound I-80, the Cass County Sheriff’s Office cited a
17-year-old juvenile male into Juvenile Court on a charge of Possession with
Intent to Deliver Marijuana (D Felony). |

Arrest
On December 29, 2011, the Cass County Sheriff’s
Office charged Joseph Donald Fredericksen, 23, of Atlantic, IA, with two charges
of Assault on a Police Officer (Serious). Fredericksen remains at the Cass
County Jail on an Atlantic Police Department arrest of that same date wherein
Fredericksen was arrested for Theft 5th Degree, Interference with Official Acts,
and Public Intox 2nd Offense. His bond is set at $2500 on all charges. |

As the result of an anonymous tip on December 28,
2011, and a subsequent check on a rural party, the Cass County Sheriff’s Office
cited the following people into magistrate’s court for Possession of Alcohol
Underage: Mackinze Marie Anstey, 20, of Cumberland, IA; Jaxson D. Armstrong, 19,
of Anita, IA; Angela Whitney Arp, 19, of Massena, IA; Paige Holland Dinkla, 19,
of Massena, IA; Laura Lee Beth Dolch, 18, of Atlantic, IA; Taylor May Dorsey,
18, of Anita, IA; Delbert Franklin Dale Halcomb, 19, of Dallas Center, IA; Shay
Dean Kaufman, 19, of Anita, IA; Tanner Stuart Runyan, 19, of Massena, IA;
Preslee Ann Sisler, 18, of Anita, IA; Kelsey May Smith, 19, of Anita, IA; Makaye
Diane Smith, 18, of Anita, IA; Alex C. Stork, 19, of Atlantic, IA; and James
Dylan Swanson, 20, of Marne, IA. One juvenile male was also cited into juvenile
court for Minor in Possession. |

On December 27, 2011, the Cass County Sheriff’s
Office arrested Matthew Bernard Steffens, 31, of Wiota, IA, on a Cass County
warrant for Failure to Register for the Sex Offender Registry 2nd Offense (D
Felony) and Residency Restriction Violation (D Felony). Steffens was taken to
the Cass County Jail where he was released on $5000 bond later that day. |
