Arrest:
A fire occurred on August 6, 2010, to a commercial
building located at 406 West 7th Street, Atlantic, IA. The building was owned by
Jerry Wyman of Atlantic, IA. An investigation by the State Fire Marshal’s
office, the Cass county sheriff’s office, and the Atlantic fire department
determined the fire was intentionally set. As a result of the investigation, on
September 2, 2010, Jerry Wyman was arrested on charges of Arson 2nd Degree,
Conspiracy, and Insurance Fraud. Investigation is ongoing in this matter. |

Accident:
On September 1, 2010, the Cass County Sheriff’s
Office responded to a report of a one-vehicle car/deer accident three miles
southeast of Wiota on 690th Street. A 2010 Dodge Caravan driven by Kalvin
Leonard Jackson, 40, of Atlantic, IA, was southbound on 690th Street when a deer
entered the roadway and was struck. No injuries were reported. Damage to the
vehicle is estimated at $4,000.00. |

Arrest:
On August 30, 2010, the Cass County Sheriff’s Office
arrested Tony Michael Wiley, 50, of Lewis, IA, on a charge of Domestic Abuse
Assault Simple. Wiley was taken to the Cass County Jail where he was released
later that day on his own recognizance. |

Arrest:
On August 29, 2010, the Cass County Sheriff’s Office
arrested Michael John Pieken, 26, of Atlantic, IA, on a charge of Possession of
a Controlled Substance. Pieken was taken to the Cass County Jail where he was
released on bond later that day. |

Arrest:
On August 27, 2010, the Cass County Sheriff’s Office
arrested Haley Alissa Butterfield, 18, of Anita, IA, on a charge of Interference
with Official Acts. Butterfield was taken to the Cass County Jail where she pled
not guilty and was released the following day. |

Arrest:
On August 22, 2010, the Cass County Sheriff’s Office
arrested Richard Todd Dixson, 31, of Atlantic, IA, on a charge of Driving Under
Suspension. Dixson was taken to the Cass County Sheriff’s Office where he was
released the following day on his own recognizance. |

Accident:
On August 21, 2010, the Cass County Sheriff’s
Office responded to a report of a one-vehicle car/deer accident on I-80
eastbound at the 57 milemarker. A 2004 Ford Focus driven by Jason Reed
Sandegren, 21, of Boone, IA, was eastbound on I-80 when a deer entered the
roadway causing a collision. No injuries were reported. Damage to the vehicle is
estimated at $5,000.00. |

Arrest:
On August 20, 2010, the Cass County Sheriff’s Office
arrested Georgia Ann Lawrence, 39, of Bellevue, NE, on a Cass County District
Court warrant for Violation of Probation. Lawrence was taken to the Cass County
Jail where she was released on $5,000.00 bond. |

Arrest:
On August 20, 2010, the Cass County Sheriff’s Office
arrested Mark David Clark, 49, of Atlantic, IA, on charges of OWI 2nd Offense
and Eluding. Clark was taken to the Cass County Jail where he was released the
following day on his own recognizance. |

Accident:
On August 16, 2010, the Cass County Sheriff’s
Office responded to a report of a 4-wheeler accident near Hampton and Jackson
Roads in Cass County. Emmerson Hill, 20, of Wiota, IA, was riding a 4 wheeler
which flipped over backward on an embankment, injuring him and a female juvenile
passenger. The passenger was transported to Cass County Memorial Hospital via
Medivac; Hill was transported to an Omaha-area hospital with injuries to hip and
leg. |

Accident:
On August 14, 2010, the Cass County Sheriff’s
Office responded to a report of a hit and run accident in the Griswold High
School parking lot. A 2007 Chevy Malibu owned by James Elton Ogg of Elliott, IA,
was parked in the Griswold High School parking lot when it was struck by a 2004
Volvo driven by Colten Allen Williamson, 18, of Griswold, IA, who left the scene
afterward. Damage to Williamson’s vehicle is estimated at $600.00; damage to
Ogg’s vehicle is estimated at $2,000.00. Williamson was cited for Striking an
Unattended Vehicle. |

Arrest:
On August 12, 2010, the Cass County Sheriff’s Office
arrested Melina Brooke Callahan-Lopez on a district court warrant for Failure to
Appear. Lopez was taken to the Cass County Jail where she was released on
$2,000.00 bond. |

Arrest:
On August 12, 2010, the Cass County Sheriff’s Office
arrested Frank B. Cates on a district court warrant for Theft 5th. Cates was
taken to the Cass County Jail where he pled guilty and was released the
following day. |

Accident:
On August 11, 2010, the Cass County Sheriff’s
Office responded to a report of a hit & run accident on 5th Street in Griswold.
A 2005 Dodge Stratus owned by Sarah Nelson of Griswold was parked on 5th Street
when it was struck by a vehicle which left the scene. No injuries were reported;
damage to Nelson’s vehicle is estimated at $3000.00. Any persons with knowledge
of this incident are encouraged to contact the Cass County Sheriff’s Office. |

Accident:
On August 10, 2010, the Cass County Sheriff’s
Office responded to a report of a one-vehicle accident on 645th Street four
miles southeast of Atlantic. A 1996 Ford Explorer owned and driven by Clint Jay
Brownsberger, 35, of Atlantic, IA, was northbound on 645th street approaching
Jasper Road when a deer entered the roadway, causing the vehicle to enter the
north ditch and roll. No injuries were reported; damage to the vehicle is
estimated at $1000. A fence struck by the vehicle is also estimated at $1000
damage. |

Arrest:
On August 8, 2010, the Cass County Sheriff’s Office
arrested Colten Allen Williamson, 18, of Griswold, IA, on a charge of Possession
of Controlled Substance (Marijuana). Williamson was taken to the Cass County
Jail where was released later that day on his own recognizance. |

arrested Joseph Lee Flathers, 26, of Anita, IA, on a charge of OWI 1st Offense.
Flathers was taken to the Cass County Jail where he was released later that day
on his own recognizance. |

Arrest:
On August 5, 2010, the Cass County Sheriff’s Office
arrested three individuals on charges of Possession of a Controlled Substance
(Meth): Jade Michael Nicholson, 19, of Atlantic, IA; Blue Tyler Petersen, 25, of
Atlantic, IA; and Catherine Lynn Brown, 21, of Grant, IA. All three were brought
to the Cass County Jail where they were released the following day on their own
recognizance. |
